Funny how a pair of shoes can make you feel..

“Funny that a pair of really fabulous shoes makes us feel so good in our heads — at the extreme opposite end of our bodies.” -Levende Waters

This quote is oh so true! A great pair of shoes can make you feel like a million bucks! I have to say they are my weakness.. Completely. Heels especially.. closely followed by wedges.
I received a fabulous pair of shoes for Christmas from my mama. She picked them out herself and surprisingly I loved them! You almost can't go wrong with a new pair of Jessica Simpson's!They're the perfect neutral color and a perfect high height! The lining and soles are leopard print which is definitely a favorite of mine and the leather is patent also a favorite! Anyway they've been the newest to my collection for a while and quite possibly my new favorites! Last time I came home for a weekend I wore them to church and stepped in a terribly small but deep crack. And yea, I came out with a huge gash in the back of the heel that was soooo deep it showed the metal stake in the heel. It made me sick to say the least!
This past Friday I was driving home from school and decided to drive through Tupelo. I passes "the Shoe Hospital".. I had seen it before but this time I stopped by. I have quite a few pairs of nice heels whose heels have been ruined by walking though gravel or mainly the Grove. The cap on the heel has fallen off and the fabric/leather that covered the stake has rolled up. Needless to say I am a bit rough on my heels.. and it's always the ones I love the most. So anyhow I stopped by this little hospital and took in the only two distressed pairs I had brought home with me... my fabulous sling back patent leather black BCBG heels and my new gorgeous nude colored peep toe JS pumps. (Can you hear the affection in my voice because it's there?!) The lady working there looked at both and said she could only help the black ones whose heel caps were missing and leather ruffled. The fact that she could fix those made me ecstatic because they had been damaged for quite some time now. She said she could not fix my nude pumps but she new a trick that could help! She told me to find a crayon that semi matched the color and melt it down and paint in on to the gash.. I did it and guess what IT WORKED!! You can see where it did it because the colors do not match exactly and the surface is not completely smooth but when I'm wearing them you'll never be able to notice! I'm so excited she let me in on this trick because I'm sure through the rest of my life I'll have plenty of other accidents. I have another pair or two that are missing heel caps that will be be sent to the shoe hospital as soon as the house opens back up after Spring Break and I can get my hands on them! I can't wait to have brand new heels again!
My Personal repair job- you can barely even tell!!

Here are they are in mint condition- Fabulous!

I've had shoes on my mind alot lately and the other day I found a cute pair of JS wedges in the mall the other day. I tried them on with all intentions of buying but they didn't have my size! Sad time but I came home to Internet search them and order them! Guess what, I found them for free overnight shipping AND in an even better color!! I ordered "Glorie" in Rustic Platinum and I can not wait for them to come in!! I have a feeling they might just be a favorite and I may just have to order them in desert sand (the original color I loved). They'll be here tomorrow and I will be waiting!
New Wedges=Spring Time

Also I got my first real massage today! Pure Bliss!! I'm a sucker for a good foot rub and a back rub isn't far behind! Definitely worth it!!
That's all for today I believe.. I'll let you know my review on the new wedges tomorrow hopefully!
Love,

Toms.. One for One

Monday night our sister chapter of our sorority in another town hosted Black Mycoskie. I personally did not know the name at first word but Blake is the chief shoe giver for Toms Shoes. This is an organization that I really think is great! There purpose is the sweetest most heart touching I've heard of in retail. Every pair of Toms you buy sends a pair of Toms to a kid in need in another country. Blake started this company after visiting Argentina and helping some volunteers give donated shoes to kids without them. He was truly touched by this and he wondered where their next pair of shoes would come from. Kids grow so fast and people are not as fastly donating. He decided a for profit industry would survive best.. and he was right! They've already donated hundreds of shoes to needy kids since 2006 when they started. His story was really inspiring and kind of funny. He never expected to have the great success he has had today. He said his customers do the advertising and I guess I am a prime example. How can you not help such a great company though?! I personally LOVE my Toms and wear them all the time. There are so many different styles to choose from but I settled on silver glitter because if you know me very well... its just me!

Here is Blake himself giving shoes to the little kids.. Yes he is soooo cute in person!!

Zappos

My only Bachelor comment I'm going to make tonight is.. Come back Allie!! I feel like she would win if she stayed but who knows with Jake! I just now ordered my birthday present from my mom. Long story short we picked out a really warm patagonia down coat that I love in a store here but they didn't have the size/color combo that I wanted. I scanned the internet but only found a few with outragous shipping so I gave up till today when I had to brave the cold again. I came straight back from class and found it on the internet at a fabulous place called Zappo's. I had to call customer service becasue the free shipping option was not available. They were the most helpful and friendly service people I have ever talked to! I just could not get over how nice they were. I greatly reccomend calling their help line. The lady even upgraded my membership so I got free overnight shipping on every order from here on out! How cool!!

Pink Pick-Me-Up

Today was just one of those sad days. None of my roommates were in the room. I had already napped for a bit and it was still early in the afternoon plus our room was a furnace to say the least. I don't have any school work yet although it will hit me soon. Just one of those days, you know. So I decided to get in my car and go somewhere. I decided I would go get my nails done. As I drove though I was totaling what my bill would be in my head and thinking how long I'd have to wait and all. Then it occured to me that a bottle of nail polish usually runs about $8 for a good kind and getting my nails painted would cost between $15 and $20. This is kind of crazy when you think about it. Now don't get my wrong I love a good set of acrylic nails anyday and I absolutely LOVE pedicures but today I decided to go for the more thrifty and practical option. So after a few loops around the square and through town I headed toward our Hallmark store. I know that sounds like a very strange place to get nail polish but believe it or not it is one of the only places in this town that sell OPI polish. This is also a crazy fact to me.. I mean this is a college town with lots and lots of girls but anyhow. After several minutes of deliberation I settled on a Barbie pink color called "Shorts Story". OPI has the cutest names for nail polish!! So I headed back to the house to try out my new purchase! Success!!

Tonight my friends and I attended a speaking entitled "Girls Night Out". The speaker for the event was author of many useful books for girls around our age including "Sex in the City Uncovered" and "The List", Marion Jordan. She spoke about her life in college and the mistakes she made throughout her college career and into her single young adult life. Her story was amazing and she was a great speaker!! She said many things that are worth remembering and worth repeating. Tonight though I'll share a funny one: "Never Ever, never ever believe what a boy says in a hott tub!!"(or something of that effect)This is such a true statement! She was mainly talking about "The Bachelor" but it is also just a common rule of thumb I believe. Something about the attire or the warm water jets I believe. As you can tell she spoke mainly on relationships and self value.. self esteem and Gods impact on all of this in our lives. Wonderful!

Signature

I've seen this on the bottom of other people post and thought mine needed one. A signature! I thought this would be an easy task. I'm kind of computer savvy or I'm good at exploring and following directions.. but this was not an easy task. I spent a whole afternoon trying to add the cute little John Handcock to my page with no success. It was really frustrating to say the least. Just now.. well about 7 minutes ago.. I decided to give it one last try and bibbiti boppiti boo a signature!! It was so simple this time. www.mylivesignature.com is so easy and works like a charm.
